Honda celebrates 50 years of the Gold Wing name with minor updates to the GL1800 family

Honda have updated their flagship tourer, the GL1800 Gold Wing, to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The updates are applied to both the standard and Tour variants, including two new paint schemes inspired by past models.

One of the new colour options combines Eternal Gold and Mahogany Brown, reminiscent of the 1988 GL1500 variant, along with unique 50th-anniversary badging.
The 124.7bhp engine has been modified to comply with new Euro5+ emissions regulations, involving the addition of an O2 sensor and ECU tuning. Both manual and semi-automatic DCT transmissions will be available.

Further commemorative touches include a Gold Wing emblem on the key and seven-inch TFT display, featuring 50th Anniversary and 'Since 1975' branding.
Additionally, the first 1,833 units sold in Europe will come with an 11-inch by 6-inch replica model.

The audio and rider/pillion technology have also been updated, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a new speaker system for improved high-speed performance.

A 'Ducking' feature will automatically lower background music during communication, and both the standard and Tour variants will feature two USB-C charging ports for smartphones.
