SUZUKI UNVEILS SPECIAL EDITION GSX-R1000R PHANTOM
Return of Phantom style with the special edition Suzuki GSX-R1000R motorcycle that has just been revealed
Just like the iconic Suzuki GSX-R1000 K6 Phantom from 2006, the Japanese marque has just revealed our first look at the 2021 rendition, with the special edition GSX-R1000R Phantom.
Decked out in an all-black stealthy colour scheme and paired with gold wheels and gold forks, the new Phantom is due to cost £17,499. That’s just £500 more than the current GSX-R1000R listed on the Suzuki site!
Many may want a new sports bike from Suzuki, but for now the Phantom edition will have to do.
Changes include:
Lots of accessories in race-spec trim, including: a Yoshimura exhaust (R11 silencer and heatshield, finished in ‘black metal magic’ with a carbon cap), those gold Showa Balance Free front forks, and a handful of Suzuki parts (track clutch and brake lever guards, tank pad and fuel cap trim, and smoked double-bubble screen.
Packaged together with a full suite of electronics, including a bi-directional quickshifter, lean angle-sensitive, 10-mode traction control and ABS, launch control, and three power modes, this race-inspired GSXR looks to be onto a winner.
The styling on this is super sleek. It may be an attempt to get a bit of attention to the 2021 model year bikes from Suzuki, but it has the heritage and it has the style - I’d certainly be open to trying it on track.
The current MotoGP winning manufacturer with Joan Mir's triumph is proud to say this it is the most advanced and exciting GSX-R in history, a bold statement but one that they back with powerful 202ps (199 BHP) 1000cc inline four-cylinder unit - a unit which utilises the same variable valve timing system as the MotoGP world championship-winning GSX-RR.
